Textured Handspun Art Yarn for Your Next Fiber Art Adventure

I love spinning art yarn from the wool and mohair produced by my sheep and goats. To create beautiful, bouncy, and richly textured skeins, I blend these homegrown fibers with materials from friends' flocks, along with silk, bamboo, sparkles, and other specialty fibers.

Each skein begins with carefully selected fleece from my animals, which I personally clean, dye, card, and handspin. This labor-intensive process requires time, skill, and dedication, resulting in yarn that is truly one of a kind. When you purchase one of my art yarns, you are supporting a small family farm and helping sustain the traditional craft of handspinning—from the flock directly into your hands.

Fibers: 30% Shetland and Fine Wool, 30% Mohair, 30% Alpaca, 5% Mohair Locks, 5% Bamboo
Texture: Core, Coil, Lock, Thick and Thin
Ply: Two
Yardage: 32-33
Weight: 1.5-1.6oz

Each hank sold separately.

Because I work with natural fibers, you may occasionally find a small piece of vegetable matter (VM) that escaped even my careful preparation.

Process & Packaging

Every skein is spun by hand on my spinning wheels, then carefully measured, weighed, and labeled with its yardage and fiber content. Once spun, each yarn is soaked to set the twist and finished as a hank to preserve its quality during storage and shipping.

About Art Yarn

Art yarn is a unique form of handspun yarn that cannot be replicated through mass production. Created in small batches and often featuring unusual textures, fibers, and techniques, each skein reflects the individual style and creativity of the spinner.

Art yarn can be used in weaving, knitting, crochet, tapestry, wall hangings, embroidery, felting, and other fiber arts. While it can certainly stand on its own, it truly shines as an accent or embellishment. Add it to the brim of a hat, use it as trim on a sweater, create dramatic fringe on a scarf, weave it into a tapestry, or incorporate a strand of texture and intrigue into your next knitting project.

Care information

All seams are sewn, resewn, and sewn again for maximum durability. However, this is still a piece of handmade textile art. Spot clean or hand wash and lay flat to dry. Cool iron with a cover cloth if you must.
